5 Things I’m Doing To Nourish My Energy This Year
After reflecting on 2019, one of the things I wanted to get better at in 2020 was nourishing my energy. Often, I overload myself by saying ‘yes’ to so many different things and I want to change that this year.
Too often, I pour myself out and help or volunteer, but I found that the more I poured out of my cup, the less I had for myself. I’ve started taking several steps this year to nourish my energy, and want to share them with you today.
“At the end of the day, if I’m going to be a good business owner and a good leader, I need to invest in myself. I need to pour into myself. We need to take care of ourselves and our energy in order to be the best we can be for others.”

In this episode Avani talks about:
- Why it’s important to nourish your energy as a freelancer.
- How to allow flexibility into your schedule without compromising productivity.
- Changing up your work week and letting it evolve to play to your strengths.
1. Block off mornings
Make your morning sacred. Use your mornings (until 9 or 10 am) to journal, meditate, or just think. I also highly recommend limiting phone usage and allow yourself to be grounded.
2. Take time to relax
Just like scheduling meetings for my business, I’ve started scheduling “me” time. This includes workouts, massages, nail appointments, and walks.
3. Do more to refill your energy “cup”
There are little things in life that can help get us energized. For me it’s working out, chatting with friends, and spending more time with my husband. Look for the re-energizers in your life.
4. Listen to your intuition
This might be hard to do at first, but practice firmly and gently saying “no” when there’s too much on your plate. You’re not saying no to that person as a person, just to the thing they asked you.
5. Volunteer less
Unless it is something that lights you up and gives you energy, don’t feel the need to volunteer, especially at first. If you have other projects that are a priority, it’s probably not the best thing for you to do in that moment.
